‰March 13 to May 24 — “Slightly Unbalanced,” an exhibition of works by contemporary artists that focuses on the issue of psychological neurosis and its presence in much of today’s art.

‰April 19 to May 17 — Portfolio 2009 will showcase work from middle and high school students in the Tri-State.

‰Feb. 8, 2 p.m. — Jazz group Stolen Moments will perform a free concert in the auditorium.

‰Feb. 24, 7 p.m. — The film “A Principled Man: Rev. Leon Sullivan” will be presented in the auditorium. Admission is free.

‰March 26, 2 p.m. — A salute to Les Six.

Children’s classes

‰Saturdays, 1 to 3 p.m. — Education Gallery, elementary-age children. Admission is free.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

PAINTED COW GALLERY

Studio home for the Lawrence County Arts Council, 103 S. Main St., Louisa. The gallery has a wide diversity of fine hand-made artwork on display and for sale from artists of the Tri-State and beyond.

Commissioned artists are available for specific art work.

The gallery is dedicating this month for the “LOVE OF ART” and has a wide diversity of fine hand-made artwork including drawings, paintings, photography, abstract sculptures, quilts, handmade jewelry, books from local authors/artists, note cards, decorative painted juvenile furniture, art dolls, etc. all on display and for sale from artists of the Tri-State and beyond. Art makes a very personal gift of love, come by and make your selections early.

Tuesdays — Artists Day. Bring your own supplies (except oils) and for $5, spend the day creating with other artists. Drawing and watercolor lessons are also available.

Greg Painter is now exclusive to the gallery, come in and see all his new artwork both in acrylic and watercolor.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday hours from noon to 4 p.m.

THE PENDLETON

ART CENTER

Watch for the exciting events and theme shows coming up at the Pendleton this year beginning with the February First Friday Art Walk in downtown Ashland on Feb. 6 from 5 to 9 p.m.

The Pendleton Art Center at 1537-1539 Winchester Ave., Ashland, houses the working and retail sale studios of artists and craftsmen from the Tri-State Area with a wide range of talents.

January artist of the month is William Wallace, photographer and impressionist painter of Studio 132.

The Left Bank Café is open during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and during First Friday and Second Look Saturday events. (606) 325-3815. The Thursday before First Friday each month is open mic night. Singers, storytellers, poets, comedians, and others are invited to perform.
