A one-woman show,"Anna Alone," based on the life of Anna Magdalena Bach, written and performed by Dinah Houston Friday and Sunday at the Gukundi Theater in Ashland.
As the wife of Johann Sebastian Bach, Anna gave up her life as a royal, court musician to care for their home, for their children, and for his music. Houston has worked for more than a decade collecting bits and pieces of information on this often over-looked woman of talent from early 1700 Germany in order to bring her story to light on stage. Those in attendance will find themselves transported into a never-before-told historical, musical drama of the greatest triumphs, the most grueling heartaches, and above all, the lasting bonds of love. Additionally, Maranda Bowling will perform an original dance piece to a work by Bach.
Performance dates for "Anna Alone" are Friday, February 14 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, February 15th at 2:30 p.m. at the Gukundi Multiplex on the corner of Carter Ave. and 8th Street. Tickets are $10 for General Admission and $7 for Students and Seniors.
