Va agency seeks public input on South Fork study

SHENANDOAH, Va. — Virginia regulators are seeking the public's help in reducing pollution in the South Fork of the Shenandoah River.

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality plans to release its latest study of the river on May 18 at a public meeting in Shenandoah.

Environmental scientist Robert Brent says input from the public and local officials will be employed as the agency uses the study's findings to set goals to reduce pollution in the river.

A stretch of the South Fork from Port Republic to Hawksbill Creek in Page County doesn't meet the agency's water quality standards.
