A wind turbine erected on the Turtle Mountain Community College campus is to begin operating in early April.
Project director Kris Delorme says the turbine will generate enough power to cut the college's electricity costs by one-third to one-half. Delorme says the college's annual energy bill is about $300,000.
Delorme says the college wants to become "100 percent green" in the future. In the past few years, the college has installed a geothermal heating system, LED lighting and a straw bale building.
