Mary Kay Yeager of Boyd County has received the Jean Steffan Smith Memorial Scholarship at Eastern Kentucky University.
The scholarship was established by Smith’s father, Ralph Steffan, to honor the memory of the former Department of Occupational Therapy faculty member.
Smith, who joined the EKU faculty in 1991, died of a rare form of cancer in 1996 at the age of 43.
Yeager is an occupational therapy graduate student at EKU.

Two area students were among those who performed in Transylvania University’s production of “A Medieval Feast.”
Natasha Collier, a sophomore, and Rebecca Williams, a junior, are graduates of Raceland-Worthington High School.
It was presented by Transylvania’s Madrigal Singers and the Medieval Instrumental Ensemble.
Collier acted as a serving wench for the dinner portion of the performance. The biology major is the daughter of Kimberly Collier of Flatwoods.
Williams acted in the Mummer’s Play portion of the performance. A Spanish language and literature and exercise science double major, she is the daughter of Raymond and Margaret Williams of Worthington.

Melissa L. Barnhart, daughter of Charles and Glenna Barnhart of Ashland, has been named to the Ohio Northern University dean’s list for the fall quarter.
She is a pharmacy-sixth year majoring in pharmacy.
The dean’s list includes students who attain a grade point average of 3.5 or better.
