John Brinton Creech, son of William and Marilyn VanHoose Tyson of Lexington and John A. Creech of Worthington, has graduated from Spencerian College in Lexington with an associate of applied science degree in computer-aided design drafting-architectural, mechanical and civil.
He is the grandson of Virginia M. VanHoose of Westwood and the late Virgil L. VanHoose and Mildred Creech of Russell and the late Jessie Creech. He is employed with Drayden Design Group LLC in Lexington.

Dawn Brown-Piatt, granddaughter of Donald and Jean Brown of Wurtland, recently graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., with a master’s degree in English.
She is a 2000 graduate of Greenup County High School and a 2004 graduate of Centre College in Danville with bachelors degrees in anthropology and English.
She is the daughter of Kendall Piatt and the late Regina King and granddaughter of G. Sam and Bonnie Piatt of South Shore.
She resides in Louisville.

Josh Tracy, son of Bibb and Kim Tracy of Greenup, won a first-place Drum Major Award in Class AA at the Marshall University Tri-State Marching Band Festival on Oct. 21.
He is drum major with the Greenup County High School band. As drum major he also placed third overall in the competition of 30 bands.

Declan Nishiyama, a senior at the McCallie School of Chattanooga, Tenn., was honored by the College Board for outstanding performance in Advanced Placement courses.
He was named an AP Scholar with distinction for scoring 3 or higher on five or more AP exams.
Advanced Placement courses are college-level classes taught in high school with scores of 3 or higher on the AP exams accepted for credit hours at large number of colleges and universities across the nation.
He is son of Jerry and Maryann Bentley.
