Central Park not central market
Central Park is not central market.
The Boyd County Extension Office is trying to establish a farmers’ market in Ashland. It’s a good idea.
They want it in Central Park. It’s a bad idea.
Lori Bowling requested June 14 through Oct. 18, but in the June 22 Independent Lyndall Harned said they wanted a year-ound market .
The seven-member Park Board appointed by the City Commission has repeatedly and unanimously denied their request and have given sound reasons for doing so. They are experienced, knowledgeable and concerned enough about Ashland to work free of charge at a sometimes thankless job.
Their input should have a major impact on the commission’s decision.
Central Park is not a shrine, but it is the crown jewel of Ashland. Please keep it that way!
