ASHLAND — A chance to be Johnny Appleseed

Friday is Arbor Day. The Ashland Tree Board assisted by Ashland Community and Technical College students and staff members will have the annual tree seedling giveaway.

It will be in Central Park at the end of Chuck Woolery Boulevard. It will start at 12:30 p.m. and last until all seedlings are gone.

There will be a variety of popular trees small and large. Some of them are the Eastern redbud, hazelnut, river birch, mulberry, cypress, silky dogwood, pecan, black walnut and chestnut.

This has been an ongoing project of the Tree Board and ACTC for several years. So many of our trees have suffered from disease, topping and weather excess.

We all need to be Johnny Appleseeds. Come to the park and pick up your seedlings. Remember, trees are the most important asset to our environment
