Words of thanks

The Independent

ASHLAND — I thank everyone who helped me during the trying time of the death of my husband, Major Charles W. Edmond.

The staff of Abbyshire Nursing Home in Bidwell, Ohio,  gave him such good care during the month he was there. I also thank Preston Family Funeral Home,  pastors Jennifer Johnson and Cathy Shaffer, pianist Merle Rose West, Ironton VFW Post 8850 and especially Tom Epperly with the Patriot Guard Riders, who stood at attention during the visitation and funeral, gave him a motorcycle escort to Rose HIll and acted  as pallbearers. Dean Jarvis, one of the Patriot Guards, was instrumental in getting information for me.

I thank all who sent food, floral arrangements, donations and cards.  Their kindnes and sympathy were greatly appreciated.

Each year at this time Boyd County Head Start/Preschool receives a generous donation from the Boyd County Extension Homemakers Hilltop Club to provide coats for our children in need.

This has been their practice for many years, providing too many coats to count over the years. We appreciate the Hilltop Homemakers dedication to serving our families, and all the work and fundraising they do to make the donation possible each year.

We thank Hilltop Homemakers for their continued support of our children and families.
