ASHLAND — Mary Marie “Doodie” Lockwood, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, with her loving sisters at her side.  

Mary was born Sept. 25, 1933, to Ewell and Bertha Childers Lockwood, the eighth of 10 children. She was also preceded in death by sister Garnet Burks and husband Paul; brothers Clarence Lockwood and wife Marie, Charles Lockwood, John Lockwood, Raymond Lockwood and wife Joyce, William Henry Lockwood and wife Wilma; and brothers-in-law Fred Dixon, Joe Fannin and Gene Akers.

Surviving are sisters Lois Mae Dixon of Ashland, Betty Fannin of Flatwoods and JoAnn Akers of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Roma Lockwood; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Doodie was a special sister and aunt who will be sadly missed.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by Chaplain Roger Wireman. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.  

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
