Larry Alley, 67 of Louisa, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, following a brief illness.
Larry was born Dec. 27, 1945, in Louisa, the son of the late Lester and Mary Moore Alley.
He graduated from Berea College in 1968 and received his master’s in agricultural sciences at the University of Kentucky. He taught vocational agriculture for many years and he loved to farm. Larry served as past president of the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association and served as deacon at the First Christian Church of Louisa. He also served on the Lawrence County Extension board, the Pathways board and was a dual member of Masonic lodges, F&AM, of Louisa and Grayson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Sarah Richards Alley; three daughters, Elizabeth Alley Diamond of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, Ange Boatwright and husband Hubert of Tallassee, Ala. and Christine Alley-Larrabee and husband Ben of Louisa; a son and daughter-in-law, Lester Luke Alley and wife Dr. Connie Alley of Maysville; a brother, Mark Alley and wife Sharon of Blacksburg, W.Va.; and 10 grandchildren, Shelby Diamond, Sarah-Jo Diamond, Brittany Alley, Luke Alley, Alanna Alley, Taylor Boatwright, Kyle Boatwright, Josh Boatwright, Shannon Larrabee and Jordyn Boatwright.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa by the Rev. Kris Langstaff. Burial will be in Alley Family Cemetery on North Ky. 3 in Louisa.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today, Jan. 19, 2013, at the funeral home.
