Thelma Jane Johnson Pennington Holbrook - 1918-2012

SANDY HOOK — Thelma Jane Johnson Pennington Holbrook, 94, of Sandy Hook, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 29, 2012, in Elliott Nursing & Rehabilitation in Sandy Hook.

She was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Cora Stegall Johnson.

Thelma was a member of Concord Church for thirty years. She enjoyed working in her garden with all of her beautiful flowers. She loved to cook and have all of her family and friends over to her home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Ray Johnson, Roy Johnson, John D. Johnson, Stirl Johnson, Romie Johnson and Bill Johnson.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and George Roseberry of Fleming County, Erma and George Stafford of Sandy Hook and Judy and Eugene Dickerson of Sandy Hook; one sister, Charolette Bays of Grayson; four grandchildren, George Marlin Roseberry, Gregory Roseberry, Christopher Dickerson and Chad Dickerson; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in the Chapel of Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, with Brother Jason Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook.

Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. on Monday until the service hour at the funeral home.

Chris Dickerson, Chad Dickerson, Christopher Dickerson, Larry Brown, Gary Brown and Jerry Johnson will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
