Mary Louise Mayse (1921-2010)
Mary Louise Mayse, 89, of Ashland, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was born June 23, 1921, to the late William Christopher and Mary Anne Martin Menshouse. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Mayse. She was a cleaning lady for Mid-State Theaters.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Jane Fowler; brothers, Charles Raymond and William David Menshouse; husbands, Troy Neal, Tom Moore and Bill Conley; sister-in-laws, Goldie and Lyda Menshouse; and a brother-in-law, Art Fowler.
She is survived by her loving family caregiver and great niece, Christi; Joel, Joey, Jordan Vickers; Billy, Sally, BJ, Vickie, Allissa, William, Josh, Amanda, Joshua, Joshie and Cameron Daniels; great nieces and nephews, Margaret Daniels, Billy Lou and Joyce Anne Menshouse and families, Willia Skeans and family, Sandy Preston and family, Giny Reardon and family; Cindy Margaret, Johnny and Jimmy Golden and families, Tamela Chapman, Connie Baily, Sandy Adkins and Gene Griffith and many, many more nieces and nephews. Friends will love and miss her always. She was also survived by sisters, Bertha Marcum and Sally Menshouse.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Elzy Thomas. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Joel, Joel Jr. Vickers, Charles Meadows and Robert Hall.
William Mayberry (1937-2010)
William “Toby” Harrison Mayberry, 73, of Westwood, passed away Saturday morning, April 3, 2010, in Woodland Oaks. He was born Feb. 8, 1937, in Boyd County, Ky. to the late Henry and Beulah Mae Barber Mayberry.
Toby was a veteran, having proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the water treatment department of Armco Steel and was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are two brothers, George “Gary” Mayberry of Winchester, Ky. and Henry Noble Mayberry of Lucasville, Ohio; a sister, Judith Lynn “J.C.” McDowell; and a special friend, Mary Lee Bruce of Westwood.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at Caniff Funeral Home by the Rev. Tim Holmes. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.

Tonjia Blevins (1962-2010)
Tonjia Lynn Schwartzkopf Blevins, 47, of Catlettsburg, passed away Friday evening, April 2, 2010, in Hospice Care Center. She was born Sept. 10, 1962, in Portland, Ind. to the late George and Suda Sorrell Schwartzkopf. She was a former factory worker and most recently retired as a clerk from Flying J Truck Stop. She attended Cannonsburg Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Tonjia was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Jean McVey.
Surviving are a son, Chance Schwartzkopf of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a daughter, Carley Bryan of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a brother, Tony Schwartzkopf of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a sister, Debra Hodge of Red Key, Ind.; several nieces and nephews and a very loving and caring brother-in-law, Paul Blevins of Catlettsburg.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Caniff Funeral Home by the Rev. Clarence Baker.

Helen Lee Adams Caudill (1917-2010)
Helen Lee Adams Caudill, 92, of Westwood, died April 2, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Salyersville, Ky. to the late Alex and Addie Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; two sisters, Nell McDaniel and Marie Risner; and a brother, Marvin Adams.
She was a retired ward clerk from King’s Daughters Hospital. She had been a member of the Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church since 1945, where she belonged to the Faithful Builders class.
She is survived by her sons, Victor (Gail) Caudill of Olive Hill, Ky. and Ray (Elaine) Caudill of Ashland, Ky.; a daughter, Kay Caudill of Ashland; grandchildren, Leslie (Taylor) Williams, Joe (Leslie Jo) Caudill, Kara (Dave) Scragg and Kelly (Andrea) Caudill; and great-grandchildren, Jessica Williams, Lindsey and Hannah Caudill, Sophia Scragg and Alyssa Scott.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Holmes officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland and one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be David Crace, Alan Ringrose, Taylor William, Dave Scragg, Joe Caudill and Kelly Caudill.

John T. Miles (1950-2010)
John T. Miles, 59, of Rush, Ky., husband of Delores McDowell Miles, died Wednesday evening in King’s Daughters Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 15, 1950, in Ashland, Ky. to the late Betty Wamsley Miles. He was of the Baptist faith and was a Vietnam veteran serving two tours of duty.
John was recently preceded in death by a son-in-law, Edwin “Eddie” Holman.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Crystal Miles of Rush, Ky.; a son, Christopher Brown of Greenup, Ky.; two brothers, Charlie Miles of Flatwoods, Ky. and Bob Miles of Lexington, Ky.; two aunts, Mary Owens of Rush, Ky. and Ann Fugitt of Bellefonte, Ky.; an uncle, Paul “Mo” Wamsley and wife Bonnie of Ashland, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Serenity Lakota Holman and Shawn Brown.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Michael Rice and Brother Matthew Adams. Military honors will be presented by the Ironton VFW Post 8850.

Hazel Jane Damron (1920-2010)
Hazel Jane Damron was at home with her family gathered around as she peacefully slipped from this life Thursday morning, April 1, 2010. She was a born again, spirit filled Christian of the Pentecostal faith and is now in the presence of the Lord. She was born July 30, 1920, in Pike County, Ky. to the late Rueben Prater and Fannie Dotson Prater Barnett.
Hazel was a singer/song writer, recording in Nashville, a poet and artist, having poems published and award-winning paintings. Always a friend to the downtrodden, Hazel was an example of love and faith to her family and a woman after God’s own heart.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Damron; her stepfather, Richard Barnett; a daughter, Sandy Mauk; and three brothers, Robert Taylor, Paul Barnett and Dick Barnett.
Hazel and the late Bill Damron raised 6 beautiful children, Cheri McCormick and husband Tom of Flatwoods, Billy Damron and wife Nancy of Russell, Janie Woods and husband John of Ashland, Jack Damron and wife Carol of Rockmart, Ga. and Ginger Simpson and husband Rick of Ashland. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, Bill Bayes, Martin Bayes, Sandra Bayes, Scott Bayes, Chuck Mauk, Tony Mauk, Rhonda Mauk Deskins, Darlene Damron Cable, Matthew Damron, Salina Damron Bryan, Amanda Roark Toler, James Roark, Joshua Woods, B.J. Damron, Rachel Simpson Manning and Ricky Simpson; and 26 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastors Mike Rice and Matthew Adams will bring a message of comfort to those in attendance. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Cemetery.

Lorene Sargent McGuire, 73, of Hamilton, Ohio, formerly of Oldtown, Ky., went to be with the Lord Friday, April 2, 2010, in Butler County Care Facility in Hamilton. She was born Jan. 21, 1937, in Blair Mills, Ky., to the late Fred and Linda Wilson Sargent.
Lorene enjoyed spending time playing games and working jigsaw puzzles with her kids and grandkids, who will miss her greatly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Millard Sargent and Laverne Sargent.
She is survived by a son, Brian McGuire of Hamilton, Ohio; three daughters, Jinny Cassano of Middletown, Ohio, Julie Browning of Hamilton and Sandy Fannin of Hamilton; 6 sisters, Vera (Conard) Scott of Argillite, Ky., Zola (Kendall) Allen of Argillite, Yvonne Grey of Morehead, Ky., Wilma (James) Boyd of Columbus, Ohio, Avalon Staggs of Argillite and Ruth (Larry) Conley of Greenup, Ky.; two sister-in-laws, Louise Sargent of Greenup and Gail Sargent of Argillite; and 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Carl Collier. Burial will be in Sargent Cemetery in Argillite.

Phyllis Jean Jordan, 78, of Amelia, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, in Meacy Anderson Hospital in Clermont after a short illness. She was born Sept. 28, 1931, to the late Lee and Dove Ball Hayes. She was a homemaker and is survived by her husband, Don Jordan.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at Pinehill Cemetery in Louisa by the Rev. Guy Meyer.
