CARTER — Lowell Eugene “Gene” Salyers, 59, of Rush, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.

Lowell was born March 5, 1954, in Ashland, to the late Virgil and Maudie Adams Salyers.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Salyers, Larry Salyers and Everett Salyers.

Lowell was retired from the Ken West Terminals Coal Dock. He was a member of Maranatha Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Salyers of Rush; a daughter, Christy Lee Lucas of Ashland; a son and daughter-in-law, Zachary and Marissia Salyers of Rush; two grandsons, Jose Cuchillo and Carlos Gullett; a granddaughter, Ryleigh Faith Salyers; six sisters, Francis “Hester” and Ronnie Oney and Lucy and Jerry Miles, all of Elliott County, Judy and J.R. Hignite of Olive Hill, Esta and Gary Pennington of Rush, Edna McIntosh of Milford, Ohio, and Imogene Adams of Hillsboro, Ohio; four brothers, Howard and Wanda Salyers, Royal and Ruby Salyers and Paul and Sue Salyers, all of Grayson, and Charles and Mary Lou Salyers of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Salyers of Webbville and Teresa Salyers of Catlettsburg; and brothers-in-law Curtis Lucas of Rush and Scott and Renay Lucas of Greenup. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Marley “Cat dog,” and his cat, Snowball.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Gary Sparks and Steve Owens. Burial will be in Lucas Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
