Sharon Kaye Ramey Barber, 55, of Fellsmere, Fla., formerly of Ashland, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, following an extended illness.
Sharon was born Dec. 6, 1957, in Ashland to Mary Margaret Bowen Ramey Williams and the late William Butler Ramey Jr. She attended Fairview High School in Ashland and graduated in 1976. She attended Rick’s College in Rexburg, Idaho, and studied business administration at Webster College in Florida. She worked in case management for the Council On Aging in Orlando, Fla., and most recently in the admissions department of Shands Hospital in Lake City, Fla. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was serving as an assistant secretary to the women’s organization in the church at the time of her death.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy Barber of Flatwoods; a son, William Tildon Stalvey of Fellsmere; two stepdaughters, Amy (Travis) McGlone of Greenup and Laura Beth (Eric) Stewart of Ashland; her mother, Mary Ramey Williams and stepfather, Jasper Williams of Fellsmere; two sisters, Phyllis J. Beaman and her husband Dale of Fellsmere and Janet G. Reeves of Ashland; three stepbrothers, Roger (Connie) Williams of Ironton, Ohio; Don (Sandy) Williams and Pete Williams of Ashland; three stepsisters, Nancy (Terry) Diamond of Lexington, Cheryl Hall of Roseville, Mich., and Tammy (Bryan) Steele of Ashland; two granddaughters, Jasmine Nicole Stalvey and April Virginia Stalvey; five stepgrandchildren, Jill, Clay and Alex McGlone and Emily and Elijah Stewart; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood by Bishop Ben Hurt. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
