Shiron Roberts Fisher - 1950-2013

ASHLAND — Shiron Roberts Fisher, 63, went peacefully to the Lord on Oct. 15, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, after a long illness.

Shiron was born Feb. 26, 1950, in Columbus, Ga., to L.J. and Joyce Roberts. In 1955, her family moved to Albany, Ga. After graduating from high school in 1968, she went to work with Southern Bell, married John A. Minnick, relocated with him to Pompano Beach, Fla., and bore their son, John M. Minnick, in 1972. Subsequently, they were divorced.

Shiron worked a variety of positions at Southern Bell (BellSouth). Her job relocated her to Jacksonville, Fla., in 1982. There she married Robert Neil Fisher in 1984. She received a bachelor of science in business management from Nova-Southeastern University in 1994. After retiring from BellSouth in 2000, she and Neil moved to Ashland, in 2005. She worked for the City of Ashland as a customer service representative for nearly five years before she had to separate from city employment.

In retirement, Shiron enjoyed being with her family, traveling and reading.

Her family writes: “Shiron had a huge heart which allowed her to love and care for her family and close friends very fiercely. The hole she leaves by her passing will never be filled, but sustained by the moments of love and generosity her spirit gifted those who were fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of her life.”

She is mourned and survived by her husband, Robert Neil Fisher; son, John M. Minnick; father, L.J. Roberts; stepmother, Venice Roberts; sister, Beth Teixeira; and brother, Britt Roberts.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ashland.

Interment, with a memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Tazewell Cemetery, in Marion County, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to AARF (Ashland Animal Rescue Fund), or to Holy Family School in Ashland.

Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
