RUSSELL — Paul Vernon Martin, 74, of Russell, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

He was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Ashland, a son of the late George Washington and Christine Virginia King Martin.

He was a minister, a retired crane operator for AK Steel and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Paul David Martin.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geneva Collier Martin; a son, Mark Anthony “Tony” Martin of Russell; three daughters, Tawnya Paulette Runyon and her husband, Jason, of Ironton; Ianthia Rae Hester and her husband, Steven, of Russell and Deanna Lynn Darby and her husband, Gary, of Flatwoods; three brothers, Johnny Martin of Flatwoods, George Martin of Detroit and Timothy Martin of Flatwoods; eight grandchildren, Dane Adams, A.J. Adams, Sarah Spradlin, Samantha Roberts, Derek Darby, Kelly Martin, Kyle Martin and Megan Martin; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Dan Brown.

Burial will be in the Danleyton Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
