Phyllis Back, 69, of Ironton, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Phyllis was born Feb. 18, 1944, in Boyd County, Ky., the daughter of the late George Presley and Margaret Owens.
She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kayla Hall, and her sister, Jo Ann Ball.
Phyllis was a homemaker and former employee of Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Ky. She was a member of the Ashland, Ky., Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was assistant treasurer for 12 years, very active in women’s ministries, instrumental in starting and maintaining a food pantry and serving as a deaconess. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and enjoyed helping others.
Surviving and left to cherish her memory are her husband of 20 years, Natchie Back of Ironton; her children, Robert Wilson of South Point, Sandy Artrip (Randall) and Christal Robinson (Chris) of Kitts Hill, Jeff Hall of South Point and Joe Hall (Meredith) of Ashland; stepchildren, including Kim Owens of Ashland, Steve Back (Terri) of Columbus and Justin Fairman of Ironton; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Presley of Kitts Hill and Danny Presley of Raceland, Ky.; sisters Bonnie Church, Helen Cline, Mary Vaughn and Vickie Evans of Ashland and Debbie Sparks of Raceland; and her stepfather, James Owens.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Tony Kelley. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
