Emma Margaret Carr Hixson - 1922-2013

ASHLAND — Emma Margaret Carr Hixson, 91, of Ashland, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

She was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Boyd County to the late Robert and Mada Whitt Carr.

Margaret retired from King’s Daughters Medical Center after many years of service. She was also a member of Central Baptist Church in Ashland. She enjoyed hobbies such as dominos, corn hole, cooking,and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, George Carr; and three sisters, Violet Walker, Lillian Hart, and Hilma Hamilton.

Survivors include her loving children; daughter Mary (Duane) Gilliam of Argillite; three sons, Robert (Marie) Hixson of Sparks, Nev., Bruce (Linda) Hixson of Wurtland and Paul (Debi) Hixson of Ashland; one brother, Robert Carr of Greenup; a brother-in-law, Richard M. Hixson; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special friend, Pat Williams; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends, all whom will miss her dearly.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with the Rev. William “Bill” Vallance officiating. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery in Westwood.  

Visitation for family and friends will be  from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 1, 2013, and one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
