Harry Holbrook 1924-2013

SANDY HOOK — Harry Holbrook, 88, of Sandy Hook, passed away Aug. 30, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 1, 1924, at Sandy Hook, the son of the late Ollie and Hattie Mae Fannin Holbrook. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Holbrook, and two sisters, Madelyn Surrgener and Lorene Holbrook.

Harry was a member of the Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, a retired pipefitter and a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 248 for 69 years. He was a member of Hepburn Masonic Lodge 548 at Sandy Hook. He served 15 years on Sandy Hook’s city council and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Harry is survived by his loving wife, Garnetta Holbrook; two sons: Dale and wife Elizabeth Holbrook of Sandy Hook and John and wife Sandy Holbrook of Sandy Hook; a daughter, Joy and husband James Ferguson of Sandy Hook; eight grandchildren, Jami Ferguson, Jaclyn Ferguson, Alex Holbrook, Ben Holbrook, Hilary Gesso, Macray Holbrook, Hunter Holbrook and Zoe Holbrook; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan Moore, Kaden Garvin, Christopher Holbrook, Colton Holbrook and Ella Gesso.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013,  at Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with Pastor Warren Vanover officiating. Burial will be in the Elliott County Memory Gardens with military services by Elliott County VFW Post 11428.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
