ASHLAND — John Terry Dalton, 70, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, following an extended illness.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and he later retired from Marathon Petroleum as a river boat captain. He was a Kentucky colonel and a member of Clarence Fields American Legion Post 76 and Fraternal Order of Eagles - Daniel Boone 2329.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Deborah D. Salyers Noble.

Survivors include an adopted son, David Richards of California; a niece, Kimber-Lee Wilfong of Missouri; two special friends, Donald Delaney Jr. of Ashland and his wife, Christy, and Jesse Lee Delaney of Ashland and his wife, Kellie; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood.
