Betty Ruth Adkins Stephens 1946-2013


She was born Aug. 4, 1946, in Elliott County, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Serilda Jane Prewitt Adkins.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Stephens; a son, Scotty Wayne Stephens; three brothers, Ray, Willard and Ronald Adkins; and two sisters, Marie Barrett and Fay Howard.

She is survived by children Robin Lynn Stephens Weddington and husband Donald of Fleming County, Karen Kay Worthington and husband Dale of Sandy Hook and Dallas James (Jamie) and wife Connie Stephens of Sandy Hook; six grandchildren, Nathan Weddington, Brittani Worthington, Samantha Worthington, Emily Stephens, Daniel Stephens and Aaron Stephens; a stepgrandson, Jeremy Worthington; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Noah and Gabe Worthington and Abagail Worthington; a sister, Isobell Stephens of Frankfort; and five brothers, Lonnie Adkins Jr. of Midway, Kenny Adkins of Frankfort and Donald, Roger and Larry Adkins, all of Sandy Hook.

Betty was saved and baptized into the Enterprise Baptist Church faith and enjoyed going to different churches.

She served about 15 years as an Elliott County dispatcher, seven years at Central State Hospital, two years at the United States Shoe Factory and 12 years as aboard member of the Elliott County Ambulance Service. She enjoyed clogging with the Wizards of Dance. She loved her friends and family very much.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook by Brother Gary Madden and Brother Jason Ison. Burial will be in Elliott County Memory Gardens.
