George Edward Williams 1925-2013

GREENUP — George Edward Williams, 83, of Flatwoods, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 25, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland with his family by his side.

He was born Aug. 25, 1925, to the late Ivan and Bessie Clark-Williams.

George was a retiree with AK Steel, where he worked as a rigger for 30 plus years. George enjoyed hobbies such as bird and deer watching and being outside in the beautiful nature, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Williams in 2011, and several brothers and sisters.

Left behind to cherish his memory are a loving and devoted family, including a son, Ronald Williams of Ironton, Ohio; stepsons, Michael Clark of Flatwoods and Joseph Clark of Wurtland; a stepdaughter, Sheila Clark (Jack) Lowder of Warsaw; two sisters, Emma Yates of Raceland and Flora George of South Webster, Ohio; two stepgrandchildren, Brian Lowder and Jennifer Sauley; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Brody and Cruse Sauley.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with burial to be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
