Bobbie Jean Cornett, 81, of Russell, passed away peacefully on Nov. 6, 2013, at her residence.
Bobbie was born Oct. 17, 1932, at Fleming, to the late Robert and Lola Lewis Wright.
Mrs. Cornett worked in the Russell Independent School District and retired in 2000 as a cafeteria manager after 36 years of employment. She enjoyed hobbies such as walking, socializing at the senior citizens center, Sudoku puzzles and gardening tomatoes. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed attending services when possible. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Cornett, and her lifelong partner/husband, Frank Cornett.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Debbie Cornett-Fields of Ashland; Greg Fields of Whitesburg; grandchildren Emily Fields of Ashland and Adam (Allison) Fields of Ashland; four great-grandchildren, Kylee Fields, Lucas Lyons, Nadia Caldwell and Shaylyn Caldwell; and many family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Carman Funeral Home-Russell, with words of comfort spoken by Pastor Jack Edwards. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Cornett to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
