Richard Lewis Adams 1929-2013

ASHLAND — Richard Lewis Adams, 84, of Ashland, died Sunday afternoon in Pleasant Hill Rehabilitation Center in Piketon, Ohio, surrounded by his loving wife and children.  

Richard was born April 12, 1929, in Ashland, a son of the late Richard Dallas and Mayme Flossie Fosson Adams.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Adams of Ashland, and a sister, Phyliss Kretzer of Ashland.

He attended Rose Road Chapel, was retired from the T&L Department at AK Steel and was an ordained minister in the Wesleyan Holiness Association. He enjoyed assisting in the building of local churches and was a master gardener.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Rogers Adams; three sons and their spouses, Roger and Anna Adams of Hudson, Fla., Ralph and Vickie Adams of Flatwoods and Rex and Leigh Ann Adams of Cannonsburg; six grandchildren, Becky (Scott) Ackers, Melissa (Bill) Kreger, Ryan (Liz) Adams, Nathan (Sara) Adams, Drew Adams and Nick Adams; nine great-grandchildren; a niece, Barbara Caudill; a nephew, Paul Kretzer; and a stepsister, Marcella Stapleton (Bill) of Flatwoods.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.  

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
