James David “J.D.” Brown 1945 – 2010

LOAD — James David “J.D.” Brown, 65, of Load Ky., went home to be with the Lord Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, in the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born March 9, 1945, in Flatwoods, Ky., a son of the late James “Will” and Elsie Douglas Brown. J.D. retired from CSX Railroad where he had worked as a laborer for 28 years. He attended Load Christian Baptist Church and was a charter and active member of the Load Volunteer Fire Department. He loved farming, his family and the Load community.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Laura Hicks Brown; five children, Jenny and Donald Howard, Carla and Danny Skeens, Angela and Greg Howard, Dana and Terry Skeens and Anthony and Carla Brown, all of Load; 11 grandchildren, Jamey and Sara Bush, Jessica and Jonathan Howard, Cassie, Jordan and Lauren Skeens, Amanda and Allen Howard, Shannon Wireman, Tyler Skeens and Noah Brown; four great-grandchildren, Uriah and Rachel Bush, Angelrae Bates and Braydon Osborne; and two brothers, Willard and Myrtle Brown of Prichard, W.Va. and Fred and Edith Brown of Flatwoods, Ky.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup, Ky., by Brother Jason Plummer. Burial will be in the James Brown Family Cemetery in Load, Ky.
