ASHLAND — John Terry Dalton, 70, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, following an extended illness.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and later retired from Marathon Petroleum as a river boat captain. He was a Kentucky colonel and a member of Clarence Fields American Legion Post 76 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Daniel Boone 2329.

He was also preceded in death by his longtime companion, Deborah D. Salyers Noble.

Survivors include an adopted son, David Richards of California; a niece, Kimber-Lee Wilfong of Missouri; two special friends, Donald Delaney Jr. of Ashland and wife Christy and Jesse Lee Delaney of Ashland and wife Kellie; and a host of extended family and friends.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. today, May 13, 2013, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood.
