Karen Leigh “Nana” Goodrich Brown, 65, of Huntington, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington.
Karen was born in Huntington, the daughter of the late Chief Master Sgt. Richard E. Goodrich and Wanda Mae Underwood Goodrich.
Karen was a graduate of Airline High School in Bossier City, La., and attended Marshall University. She retired as a tax auditor with the Internal Revenue Service after 33 years of service in the Ashland, Ky., and Huntington offices. She was a kind and loving lady who was always willing to help others.
She is survived by and especially enjoyed spending time with her son, Paul Thomas Brown III (Tina); a granddaughter, Destiny Brown Hedrick; two great-grandsons, John Thomas Hedrick, age 4, and Cameron Hedrick, age 4 months, all of Huntington; and her boyfriend; John T.M. Yewell of Ashland.
She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Robin (Bill) Wilson, and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard A. (Linda) Goodrich, all of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandsons, Christopher Owens, age 17, and Johnathon “John John” Owens, age 14; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Owens, 2 weeks old, all of Huntington; a host of friends and family; a best friend, Patricia Snyder; friends and family on 15th Street West; and a very special friend, Martha Smith.
She will be sorely missed by all who loved her and have an empty spot in their hearts. She will be missed until the day we all meet in heaven.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Reger Funeral Home in Huntington.
The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be made to a favorite charity.
