Trudy James 1955-2013

ASHLAND — Trudy James, 57, of Ashland, left her Earthly home encamped by heavenly angels and surrounded by family and friends on Monday, April 22, 2013, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell. Trudy was a joy and blessing to everyone she met!

She was born Oct. 17, 1955, in Ashland, to the late Raymond E. and Frances Humphrey Blanton. Trudy attended Ashland public schools and was a dedicated singer/songwriter and accomplished musician. She was a member of the gospel group The Singing Blantons and co-host of the TV program “Down Home with the Blantons.” She enjoyed singing praises to our Lord and Savior and telling everyone about Jesus.

Trudy was also preceded in death by a sister, Tanyah V. Blanton, on March 22, 2013.  

She is survived by her loving husband, Steven D. James of Ashland; a devoted son, Jordan S. James of Ashland, whom she loved dearly; brothers Ray W. Blanton of Catlettsburg, Mickey L. (Karen) Blanton and Terry (Cindy) Blanton of Ashland; sisters Sheila K. Hale and Candace (James) Murphy of Ashland and Marcia (Paul J.) Russell of Willard, Ohio; nephews Christopher (Cindy) Hale of Catlettsburg, Scott A. Hale of Ashland, Darrin (Julie) Russell of Belleview, Ohio, and Todd (Candace) Russell of Willard; nieces Cheri (Gregg) Gussler and Tracy D. Hall of Ashland, Paula (Chip) Jones of Willard and Felicia (Jason) Steele of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and a host of great-nephews and great-nieces.  

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Tom Jones, the Rev. Jimmy Morrison and Pastor Shane Cox. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.  

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the funeral home.
