FLATWOODS — Earl Gerrald Redden, 77, of Flatwoods, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Detroit, Mich., a son of the late Earl and Helen Schiller Redden.

Earl was a retired tool and die supervisor for Ford Motor Company. He also attended Russell Baptist Church. Earl was a Mason and a member of Smith Lodge F&AM 775. He enjoyed his part-time job at Kroger, meeting and greeting customers and also spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Lapage.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Gloria Abbott Redden of Flatwoods; five daughters, Lori (Tom) Scheffler of Arkansas, Nancy (Randy) Margherina of Michigan, Robin (Michael) Porter of Russell, Melissa (Dragan Stojkvic) Parsons of Michigan and Kim (Lee) Carroll of Michigan; four sons, Jim (Vicki) Parsons of Missouri, Dr. Tim (Sueh) Parsons of California, Jeffery (Janice) Redden of Michigan and Todd (Sarah) Redden of Michigan; two sisters, Ruby Franklin of Virginia and Dana Hill of Michigan; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a lifelong friend, Brent Strickland; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with words of comfort spoken by Pastor Ken Gowin. There will be a Masonic service at 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
