SANDY HOOK — Janis Lee Ison, 83, of Sandy Hook, passed away Feb. 25, 2013, in St. Joseph East in Lexington.

She was born April 6, 1929, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late John and Myrtle Franklin Barber.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Ison; four children, Terry, Robert, Tammy and Deborah; a brother, Junior Barber; and a sister, Katherine Flanery.

Janis was a homemaker and of the Apostolic faith.

She is survived by a son, John Ison of Sandy Hook; a daughter, Cheryl Clevenger Fultz of Morehead; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Viola Jones of Farmers; and a host of friends and loved ones who will sadly miss her.

A graveside service was at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Ison Family Cemetery by Brother Eugene Haney.

Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook was in charge of arrangements.
