Mary Louise Hensley - 1932-2009

Mary Louise Hensley, 77, of Tallahassee, Fla., formerly of Boyd County, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at her residence. She was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Lawrence County, Ky. to the late John and Marie White Hutchinson.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Warren Hensley; and her daughter, Verna Louise Hensley.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Verena Fields, Ricky Fields, Kenny Fields and Suzy Fields; eight great-grandchildren, Kelsey Peck, Jenna Peck, Kyle Fields, Steven Fields, Kristina Fields, Karen Fields, Brandon Fields and Hunter Fields.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009. Burial will be in the Harmon Cemetery in Lawrence County, Ky.

Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky. is in charge of arrangements.



John Preston “Jinks” Littleton - 1923-2009

Jinks Littleton, 86, of Olive Hill, died early Saturday morning at St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead. He was born Aug. 25, 1923, to the late Jessie “Babe” and Lizzie Howard Dyer Littleton.

He was a father, husband and retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alameda; five brothers, Richard “Bud”, Denny, Jim, Tom and Clyde Littleton; and two sisters, Dora Hall and Myrtle Abrams.

He is survived by two sons, Billy Littleton of Olive Hill and Mike Littleton of Defiance, Ohio; four daughters, Dorothy (Gary) Webb, Erma Stone and Debbie (Lewis) Roseberry, all of Olive Hill, and Janice Feeney of Defiance, Ohio; and 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Sparks Funeral Home with minister Matt Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Henderson Cemetery near Olive Hill.

James Dudley Slater - 1945-2009

Mr. James Dudley Slater, 64, of South Shore, Ky., went to be with his lord Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, from Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Ky. He was born Feb. 16, 1945, in Greenup County, Ky. to Erma Slater Burke of South Shore, Ky. and the late Dudley Slater.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Carmelita Albrams and Reba Pauline Bailey.

He was a member of the South Shore First Christian Church in South Shore, Ky., a member of the Harrison Fullerton Masonic Lodge #937 of South Shore, Ky., a graduate of McKell High School in the class of 1964, a football coach for several years and a recipient of the Outstanding Citizens Award from the House of Representatives in Frankfort, Ky. He was also honored for volunteer efforts for the youth in Greenup County, Ky., was a Kentucky Colonel and retired from North American Refractory of South Shore, Ky.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Nickel Slater of South Shore, Ky.; a son, Patrick McGuire of South Shore, Ky.; a daughter, Leslie Daniels of Greenup, Ky.; a sister, Marcella Grimm of South Shore, Ky.; and a grandson, Maxwell McGuire.

Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the South Shore First Christian Church with Bill Hayden, minister and Kirby Major officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church.

Eva Baldridge - 1941-2009

Eva Stevens Baldridge, 67, of Wurtland, Ky., with her family by her side, went to be with the Lord Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, from Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born Dec. 10, 1941, in Argillite, Ky. to the late Henry and Mintie Elliott Stevens.

She worked at Danleyton Elementary School as a cook for many years and was supervisor of food service at King’s Daughters Medical Center for 22 years. She loved her job and the people she worked with. She attended Argillite Church of the Nazarene.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was loved by many and will be sadly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel “Ray” Baldridge; and a son, Mike Baldridge.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Baldridge (Tom) Huff of Catlettsburg, Ky.; three sons, Tim (Donna) Baldridge of Russell, Ky., Jeff (Sherry) Baldridge of Wurtland, Ky. and Mark (Pam) Baldridge of Greenup, Ky.; three brothers, Elwood Stevens of Argillite, Ky., Bill (Pat) Stevens of Greenup, Ky. and Clarence “Tucker” (Phyllis) Stevens of Greenup, Ky.; a sister, Polly (Luther) Nichols of Argillite, Ky.; and ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Dr. Tom Melvin. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Ky.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Karen Lynn Fletcher - 1956-2009

Karen Lynn Fletcher, 53, of Blaine, Ky., passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at her home. She was born Jan. 7, 1956, in St. Paul, Minn. to the late Pauline Hamilton. She was a homemaker, a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Christian Faith Outreach.

In addition to her mother, Karen was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Harry and Kathryn Nadine Chambers; a sister, Tracey Gill; and a brother, Jeff Carpenter.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Fletcher of Blaine, Ky.; two daughters, Kathryn and husband James Staniford II of Lexington, Ky., Patricia Starr of Blaine, Ky.; a son, Robert and wife Erica Fletcher of Ashland, Ky.; a sister, Denise Gill of Red Wing, Minn.; three brothers, Bruce Gill of S.D., Jerry Gill of Denver, Colo. and Jonothon Gill of Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Braelyn Rose Fletcher and Javien Cruze Staniford.

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Gene Easterling at 7 p.m. today, November 15, at Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fort Snelling Cemetery in Bloomington, Minn. at a later date.

Barbara M. Crutcher - 1924-2009

Barbara M. Crutcher, 85, of Richmond, Ky., passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky. Mrs. Crutcher was born July 28, 1924, in Johnson County, Ky. to the late Arthur B. and Audrey Faye Salyer Murray. Her husband, Thomas Dickenson Crutcher, preceded her in death.

She was a member of the South Ashland United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Fishtrap Church. She was a planner for Ashland Oil & Refining Co. in Catlettsburg, Ky. for 32 years and previously worked with her husband in Crutcher’s Grocery in Louisa, Ky.

Surviving are a son, Thomas Dickenson Crutcher II and wife Wilma of Richmond, Ky.; grandchildren, Heather Crutcher, Rebecca Crutcher and Amber Crutcher, all of Richmond, Ky.; a brother, Willie Dean and Ethel Murray of Johnson County, Ky.; a niece, Sheri and Tim Music of Johnson County, Ky.; nephews, Greg and Valerie Murray of Johnson County, Ky., John and Cathy Newsom of Poca, W.Va. and John Alley of Milwaukee, Wis.

Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Young Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa, Ky. Burial will be in Highlands Memorial Park in Staffordsville, Ky.

Lana W. Wilson - 1954-2009

Lana W. Wilson went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, with her family by her side, from King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., following a sudden illness. Lana was born April 10, 1954, in Ironton, Ohio, to the late W.E. and Mildred H. Wimmer Jr.

Lana was the owner-operator of Cozy Crafts and Flowers in Worthington, Ky., where she put her talent and love in beautiful arrangements, pleasing the eye of every beholder. She was an active member of the church she treasured, Worthington Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Randy N. Wilson of South Point, Ohio; her loving son and daughter, Matthew Joseph (Stacie) Wilson of Georgetown, Ky. and Melissa Dawn (Brian) Shaffer of Russell, Ky.; the apples of her eye, grandchildren, Alora Grace Wilson, Addison Mae Wilson, Aidan Joseph Shaffer and a granddaughter she was anxious to meet in January, Eastyn Alana Shaffer; and a step-granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Shaffer.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Bubby” Wimmer.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Worthington Church of the Nazarene with Delmar Hewlett officiating. Burial will be at the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

The family will welcome visitors from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.



James E. Hall - 1927-2009

James E. Hall, 82, of Wurtland, died Friday in Jo-Lin Health Care Center. He was born March 14, 1927.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Caroline Cemetery in Raceland, Ky.

Fannie Marie Collins - 1942-2009

Fannie Marie Collins, 67, of Greenup, died Friday at her home. She was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Paintsville. Her husband, Everett E. Collins, survives.

James E. Williams - 1942-2009

James E. Williams, 67, of Paintsville, died Friday in Hall Medical Center. He was born Sept. 19, 1942, in Johnson County. His wife, Ruth Ann Newsome Williams, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at noon on Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Johnson County Cemetery in Staffordsville.

Paul J. Reynolds - 1921-2009

Paul J. Reynolds, 88, of Morehead, died Friday in St. Claire Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 21, 1921. His wife, Mabel Carr Reynolds, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Morehead First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
