ASHLAND — James I. Bailey, 77, of Ashland, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

He was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Ashland to the late William L. and Freda Karamer Bailey.

He was employed at Allemite Company as a salesman. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge BPOE 350, volunteered at Holy Family School as a basketball coach and was founder of the booster’s club.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceeded in death by his first wife, Jody Serey Bailey; son James Bailey II; sisters Harryete Bailey Fahrson and Sue Bailey Gatliff.

He is survived by his wife, Nan O’Hara Bailey; daughters Beth (Gary) Bailey Jones of Leavenworth, Kan.; four grandchildren, Erin Jones, Allison Jones Oaks, Andrew Jones and Sarah Bailey; three great-grandchildren; brother William Bailey of Virginia; and a special friend, his beloved dog, Sam.

A memorial (Elk’s) service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland. A private committal service will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A reception will follow after the Elks service at the Elk’s Lodge ball room on Carter Ave. in Ashland.
