Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel
Marilyn Hope Lipsitz died Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas. She was 84.
The daughter of the late Carlisle Lewis Jones and Blanche Preston Jones, Hope was born in Ashland and resided there most of her life. She was married for 41 years to the late Dr. Bernard Lipsitz, an Ashland dentist. Hope attended Ashland Community College and Marshall University. She served as executive director of the YWCA and of Safe Harbor, and worked for Pathways Inc. and the federal court. She served on the Ashland Board of Education and was a member of the dental auxiliary and the Agudath Achim Temple sisterhood. She was active in community theater, appearing in numerous productions, most memorably as Dolly in “Hello, Dolly!”
Hope was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Carlyle Jones.
She is survived by two sisters, Carole Brewer of Ashland and Faith Grossl of Gahanna, Ohio; and by a daughter, Angela Lipsitz King, a son-in-law, Michael King, and two grandchildren, Katherine and Ben, of Wilder.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Guy Moyer. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
