ASHLAND — Ronald Geis, 75, of Boyd County, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Ron was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Cygnet, Ohio, a son of the late Arthur Robert and Cervera Smith Geis.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Floyd C. Geis.

Mr. Geis was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He served in many capacities at the church, including a Deacon of the church, assistant treasurer, served as the treasurer of the men’s breakfast club and was a sponsor of the church youth. He was very active in youth sports for many years. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and served his country in the Army National Guard.

Mr. Geis retired from Ashland Oil Inc. He was head supervisor of the SuperAmerica Warehouse in Ashland.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Gillmore Geis of Boyd County; sons, Gregory R. Geis and wife Elizabeth of Louisville, and Jeffrey A. Geis of Russell; daughter Jennelle K. Geis Tanner and husband Troy of Kemah, Texas; sister Mary L. McCullum of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren Cameron L. Tanner, Hailey M. Noffsinger, Peyton N. Tanner, Hunter G. Geis, Kendall M. Geis and Allison R. Geis; and a great-grandson, Brayden G. McKenzie.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland. The Rev. Ike Nicholson will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1930 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
