ASHLAND — Donald Ray “Speedy” Chandler II, 59, of Ashland, died to eternal life on Friday, May 10, 2013.

He was born Sept. 20, 1953, in Louisa, a son of Emma Jean Howell Chandler of Ashland and the late Donald Ray Chandler.

He was a 1971 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School. He earned an associate degree from Ashland Community College and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1971 to 1975. He was a service manager at Ashland Office Supply and a devout member of the Catholic faith.  

He is also survived by a loving wife of 31 years, Mary Lou Layne Chandler of Ashland; a son, Aaron Christopher Chandler of Ashland; two daughters, Ali Christina Chandler of Ashland and Angela Colleen and her husband, Brent Wirzfeld, of Ironton, Ohio; a precious granddaughter, Cinci Rose Wirzfeld of Ironton; a sister, Patricia and husband Al Lockwood of Denton; an aunt, Ruth Ann Jones of Denton; his mother-in-law, Joan Layne of Ashland; eight brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; and his best friend, Steve Conley of Ashland.  

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton by Father David Huffman. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Ashland.  

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, May 13, 2013, at the church.

Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
