Nellie Gray Howard Salyer 1942-2013

CARTER — Nellie Gray Howard Salyer, 70, of Grayson went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.  

She was born Aug. 16, 1942, in Paintsville, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Norsie Howard.  

She retired after 27 years as a schoolteacher in the Carter County School District and was a substitute there until recently. She was a member of the Retired Carter County Teachers and First Baptist Church in Grayson.  

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Flora Faye Howard, and a brother, Paul D. Howard.

Her survivors include a son, Gary (Debbie) Clay Salyer of Russell; a daughter, Robin (Bob) Trimble of Grayson; a sister, Sarah Maggard of Texas; and a granddaughter, Dustin Gray Withrow.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Grayson by Paul Schmidt. Burial will be in Bluegrass Cemetery in Salyersville.  

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.  

Malone Funeral Home in Grayson is in charge of arrangements.
