Patricia Ann “Nana” Stefancic Turnmire 1937-2013

ASHLAND — Patricia Ann “Nana” Stefancic Turnmire, 75, of Ashland, formerly of Buffalo, N.Y., was escorted by angels to be with the Lord on May 6, 2013, with family by her side at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland after a long battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 7, 1937, in Stephenson, W.Va., the daughter of the late Frances Spencer Stefancic and the late Frank Stefancic.

Patricia was a baptized member of Oak Street Freewill Baptist Church in Flatwoods.

She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobby Hugh Turnmire, in November 1997; and siblings Jimmy Spencer, Eugene, Ramona, Sontie and Stephen Stefancic.

Patricia is survived by her son, Richard Hugh Turnmire of Buffalo; daughters Susan Lynn Duncan (Craig) of Buffalo and Carol Ann Collier (Gregory) of Ashland; sisters Jacqueline Stefancic Wilcox of Allen Junction, W.Va., and Jeanette Stefancic Greer of Helen, W.Va.; a brother, Robert Stefancic of Colorado Springs; special sisters-in-law Betty Turnmire Smith (Bob) and Bonnie Turnmire Wynn; many nieces and nephews; seven granddaughters; two grandsons; and six great-granddaughters.

Her children were the joy of her life, but her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the sparkle in her eye.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Welton Bible Chapel in Allen Junction by the Rev. Gilbert Dodson. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Because Patricia loved flowers, sympathy arrangements are most welcome or memorial donations can be sent to Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

A special thanks to the care center; the staff was a true blessing during her final days of illness and the family’s time of loss.

Condolences may be sent to tankersleyfh.com.

The family of Patricia Turnmire is being cared for by Tankersley Funeral Home in Mullens, W.Va.
