GREENUP — James R. Cline, 80, of Flatwoods, went home to be with his Lord on April 26, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born April 18, 1933, in Ashland to the late John J. Cline and Goldie Puckett Cline.

He was a member of Advance Memorial United Methodist Church, Smith Masonic Lodge 775, Covington Scottish Rite, El Hasa Shrine, former City Council Member, Former Mayor of Flatwoods and various other organizations. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from AK Steel.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Junior, Eddie and Willis Cline.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Lois Jean Wright Cline; daughters, Kathy Jean Joyce of Hurricane, W.Va., Rebecca Sue Fearing of Damascus, Va., and Carol Ann Rankin of Lexington; one son, James Michael Cline of Lake Forest, Calif.; sister, Phyllis Payne of Summit; brother, Charles Cline of Ashland; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his buddy, “Sport.”

Special love and great appreciation to Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland, Charleys Grilled Subs of Ashland Town Center and to all the wonderful caregivers.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland with Pastor Don Young and Pastor Mark Wilson officiating. Masonic Rites will be at noon provided by Smith Masonic Lodge 775. Military Graveside Rites will be at The JOUAM & Eagle Cemetery in Olive Hill.
