Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel
Pastor David Milton McGranahan, 68, of Rush, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, Feb. 15, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Nov. 26, 1944, in Louisa, a son of the late George Washington and Lutie Mercer McGranahan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jim, Ed, Bill, Claude, Jack, George and two infant brothers; sister, Nevaline McGranahan Jackson; and an infant sister.
Dave was the pastor of Community Tabernacle Church for 16 years. He was dedicated, faithful and loved his church family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, daddy and pap. He retired after many years of service in the maintenance department at Walmart.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Johnson McGranahan of Rush; a son, James (Donna) McGranahan of Ashland; daughters, Christina (Johnny) Diamond of Ashland, Melissa (Brian) Hardin of Catlettsburg and Angela (Rich) Hazlett of Ashland; brothers, Woodrow McGranahan of Denton, Charles McGranahan of Lawrence County and Ray McGranahan of Denton; sisters, Flossie Bayes of Ashland and Betty Withrow of Ironton,Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Tommy (Natalie) Diamond, Brian (Deanna) Hardin, Wesley Diamond, Rebekah Hardin, Shalayna Rice, Josh Rice, Andrew Hazlett, Ryan Hazlett, Derek McGranahan and Toshia McGranahan.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel, with Jimmy Morrison, Louis Clark and Rick Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Coalton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 18, 2013, at the funeral home.
