ASHLAND — Richard “Dick” Jacobs, 78, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Sunset Nursing Home, in Coal Grove, Ohio.

He was born July 8, 1934, in Ashland, to Richard Elmer Jacobs and Dorothy Dixon.

He worked in construction as a laborer and attended Crum Chapel.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his two brothers, William “Bill” Franklin Jacobs and Wayne Jacobs.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Jacobs of Ashland; one brother, James “Toge” Jacobs of Flatwoods; one sister, Bonnie Davis of Greenup; niece and caregiver, Hope Lemaster of  Ashland; and several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland, with the Rev. Bill Smith. Burial will in the North East Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, with military rites by Ceredo-Kenova American Legion Post 92.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
