Alice Lee Smith Asher - 1935-2014

OLIVE HILL — Mrs. Alice Lee Smith Asher, 78, of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 30, 2014, at her daughter’s residence.

She was born June 14, 1935, at Evarts, a daughter of the late Chester and Barbara Koch Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ralph Asher; two brothers, Rodford Smith and George “Butch” Smith; and a sister, Jeanette Smith Wilson.

Alice was a member of Olive Hill First Baptist Church for 49 years, where she served as church secretary and enjoyed singing in the choir. She and her husband, Ralph, were former owners and operators of White Town Cleaners in Olive Hill for 39 years. Alice loved to cook, being especially well-known for her strawberry pies, dried apple stack cakes and sage dressing.

Alice is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Cindy Asher of Lexington; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Abel Angel of Olive Hill; three grandchildren, Max Angel of Lexington, Shelly Angel of Lexington and Laura Asher of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; her special friend and neighbor, Marjorie Hensley; and many other family members, church family and friends who will sadly miss her.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Olive Hill by Brother David Logsdon. Burial will be in A.B. Gold Kiser Cemetery on Ky. 2 in Olive Hill.

Max Angel, Jeff Wilson, Larry Harris, Sam Lowe, Rod Smith, and Christopher Bond will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. today, May 2, 2014, and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the church at 365 E. Tom T. Hall Blvd., Olive Hill.
