GRAYSON — Madgel “Ruth” Stone, 87, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, April 26, 2014, in Nottingham Village in Northumberland, Pa., where she had been a guest.

Ruth was born Dec. 27, 1926, in Burnwell, W.Va., a daughter of the late Raymond and Ursel Gollihue Kees. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, George Stone.

Ruth was a graduate of Morehead State University and spent some time teaching in a one-room schoolhouse. She enjoyed reading, being on her front porch swing, baking red velvet cakes and spending time with her family. Ruth was very loving and never spoke an unkind word. Ruth lived most of her life in Kentucky, but later moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family.

Mrs. Stone is survived by her five children, David Watson of Mount Olive, W.Va., Richard Watson of Ashland, Donna Bunch of Sunbury, Pa., Tim Stone of Ashland and Kathy Stone of Wheelersburg, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Alyssa and Karli Bunch, Nina and Sara Stone, Maria Lucas, Chad Blair, Brandon and Kaitlin Watson; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Lucas and Lily Blair.  

The funeral will be at noon Thursday at Malone Funeral Home at 325 Malone Lane in Grayson. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens in Grayson.
