Dovetta Marie Kouns 1937-2014

GREENUP — Dovetta Marie “Doe” Kouns, 76, of Flatwoods, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Doe Kouns was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Greenup, a daughter of the late E.A. Stith and Hattie Mae Brooks Stith Litteral. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Thomas E. Kouns Sr.; a son, Robert M. Kouns Sr.; five sisters; and two brothers.

She attended First Baptist Church of Greenup.

Surviving are two daughters, Missy (Raymond) Stephenson of Raceland and Betty Jo (Greg) Jackson of Berea; three sons, Thomas E. (Marissa) Kouns Jr. of Russell, Timothy R. (Kelly) Kouns of Leavenworth, Kan., and Mickey Rice of Flatwoods; a sister, Judy Fitzpatrick of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers, Raymond A. Stith of Point Pleasant, W.Va., Jack Stith of Wurtland, Kenneth (Cookie) Stith of Flatwoods and John (Delberta) Litteral Jr. of Ashland; 12 grandchildren, Beth (Jason) Westenhofer, Kristen (Nick) Felty, Josh (Becka) Stephenson, Jeremy (Stefany) Stephenson, Steven Kouns, Jason (Sarah) Kouns, Ryan Kouns, Jeremiah Jackson, Deborah Jackson, Brittany Rice, Bobby Kouns and Samantha Kouns; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, James Allen of Ironton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kouns of Westwood; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland by Dr. Tom Melvin and the Rev. Glen Stephenson. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 11, 2014, and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
