NEW PORT RICHEY, FL —
Roy J. “Joe” Myers died peacefully at his residence in New Port Richey, Fla., on Nov. 8, 2013. He was a resident of Ashland for more than 30 years.
Joe was born Nov. 21, 1941, in Louisville, to Roy B. Myers and Verda M. French Myers. He graduated from St. Xavier High School in Louisville. He was a police officer for the Louisville Police Department before becoming a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He retired as Special Agent Badge No. 961 from the Ashland ATF Post of Duty in 1997. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and active in the Ashland community until retiring to Florida in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his spouse, Judy G. Richardson Myers.
He is survived by his three sons, Joseph B. Myers and wife Tami Eschrig of San Antonio, Texas, Joshua H. Myers of Lexington and Jeremy V. Myers of Chambersburg, Pa. He had three beautiful granddaughters he believed hung the moon, Hannah, Adison and Stella. He is also survived by two sisters, Janice M. Smith and husband Charles Smith of Davenport, Iowa, and Jacqueline K. Hornung and husband Jim of Ocala Fla.
Dobies Funeral Home in Hudson, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
