Reed Funeral Home
Mary Louise Felty Martin was granted her angel wings and went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2014.
Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends she had touched throughout her very memorable life. She gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Mary was born Jan. 25, 1958, in Russell. She graduated from Greenup County High School in 1976. She was one of two children born to Ricca Jane Snoody Felty of Greenup. She was preceded in death by her father, Jarvey Eugene Felty Sr.
Mary is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 35 years, Pastor Kenneth Kirby Martin Jr. of Greenup; three sons, Pastor Kenneth (Shay) Martin III of South Shore, Kevin (Kristin) Martin of Greenup and Kyle Martin of Greenup; a daughter, Deborah (Ben) Martin Tibbitts of Ashland; a brother, Jarvey (Mary Etta) Eugene Felty Jr. of Grey, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Ross Skeens, Rylee Mitchell, Samuel Tibbitts, MyKenah Martin, Sebastian Tibbitts, Boone Martin and Kevin Martin Jr.; and a host of family and friends.
Mary had an unwavering faith in God. Mary was a charter member of Lloyd Church of the Nazarene, where she served faithfully in many roles and leadership for more than 30 years, including Women’s Ministry president, Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, lead piano player, singer and choir member. Mary’s biggest contributions were the lives she touched while being over the church nursery.
Mary was a Mary Kay consultant for more than 18 years and loved everything about it. She was also employed as a secretary with Steve Logan Construction and Metal Sales.
Mary was a proud and active member of Marine Moms while her son, Kevin, faithfully was serving our country in the Marine Corps. Her interests included spending time with her church family and friends, playing the piano and crocheting. While her sons were growing up, her passion and time were spent cheering them on at the baseball field where she spent countless hours. Mary enjoyed playing and spending time with her precious grandkids, who brought her so much joy.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Lloyd Church of the Nazarene at 157 Ohio River Road. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County.
Mary touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014, and an hour before services Monday at the church.
