Dixie Conley Jones - 1928-2013

FLATWOODS — Dixie Conley Jones, 84, of Flatwoods, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods.

She was born Sept. 12, 1928, at Argillite, a daughter of the late Samuel and Elva McCarty Conley.

Dixie was a retired elementary teacher/librarian for Greenup County School. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, the Retired Teachers Association and AARP. She enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, bowling and spending time with family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Earl Jones, in 2011; three sisters, Beatrice Watson, Heliotrope Wiley and Maxie Triplett; and a brother, Oakie Conley.

She is survived by three sons, Keith Jones of Raceland, Kevin Jones of Jacksonville, Fla., and Shawn Jones of Groton, Conn.; a grandchild, Randy (April) Jones of Raceland; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Talon Jones, both of Raceland, and Brendan of Ashland.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with words of comfort delivered by Pastor Jim Pridemore to those in attendance. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July, 18, 2012, at the funeral home.
