Dallas Dewey Sammons, 87, of Prestonsburg, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, in Louisa.
He was born May 6, 1926, in Prestonsburg, a son of the late Dewey and Elva Branham Sammons.
He was a retired clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Prestonsburg.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Denver Sammons of Hollywood, Fla., and a grandson, James Neil Lester.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby Faye Sammons of Prestonsburg; two daughters, Rose (Jim) Lester of Louisa and Dallas Faye Sammons of Morehead; a brother, Arliss (Priscilla) Sammons of Prestonsburg; sisters Evelyn Goble of Prestonsburg and Ethel (Dean) Sammons Murray of Prestonsburg; and two grandchildren, Melanie (James) Sparks and Marc (Morgan) Lester.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at First United Methodist Church on Arnold Avenue in Prestonsburg by the Rev. Wayne Watts. Burial will be in Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery in Prestonsburg.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Carter Funeral Home in Prestonsburg.
