Irene Jacobs, 84, of Wurtland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. She now rests peacefully in Jehovah God’s memory.
Mrs. Jacobs was born April 7, 1929, in Saltville, Va., a daughter of the late Royal and Augusta Hunt Tadlock. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Verlon E. Jacobs; a son, Ronnie Jacobs; and one brother, Royal Tadlock Jr.
Surviving are one sister, Floneta (Sam “Skip”) Gilmore of Chuluota, Fla.; four daughters, Ramona Stephens of Flatwoods, Sandy (Paul) Hennecke and Diana Riggs, both of Raceland, and Shelia Gardner, of Flatwoods; 10 grandchildren, Katrina Hennecke, Tina Sanchez, Sheila Diane Warner, Ronnie Lee Stephens, Melissa Paul, Cecil Riggs Jr., Angela Smith, Lisa Jacobs, Shavonne Hudson and Rann Gardner; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was baptized in 1948 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and faithfully attended the Greenup congregation. Her love and service to Jehovah God brought peace and joy to her life. She was the spiritual anchor of our family and the reason for our faith and love in our creator.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at the Greenup Kingdom Hall at 1611 E. Main St., by Minister John Hibshman.
Visitation for family and friends will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenup Kingdom Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Greenup.
