Virginia “Ann” Gardner - 1926-2013

ASHLAND — Virginia “Ann” Gardner, 87, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods.

She was born Feb. 28, 1926, to the late Mary Annie Easley and Richard D. Gardner Sr. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Withrow and Richard D. Gardner Jr.

She retired from GTE (General Telephone) in Ashland and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

She was a true servant to her Catholic faith and spent her time serving others. She had a heart for all animals, taking great care of her many four-legged friends over the years.

She is survived by a brother, Bob Gardner Sr. of Laurenburg, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.

At her request, there will be no visitation or services. A Mass will be said for her on Nov. 23, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
